VILLAGE ANNUAL TREE DECORATING AND LIGHTING CELEBRATIONS

Saturday, December 2nd in front of the Village Hall on 144th Street from 3-5pm.

Be sure to attend the Annual Holiday Tree Decorating and Lighting celebration at the Public Safety Building, 725 W. 138th Street on Sunday, December 3rd from 3-5pm. Santa will be on hand for your children and everyone will enjoy the cookies and hot chocolate. Bring an ornament to place on the Village tree. Sign our Ribbon at the Village Hall.

PET TAGS
All pet tags expire on December 31. Renewal applications are going out in December. Tags are $8.00 per animal with proof of current Rabies vaccination, limit of 3 animals per household. Should your animal be picked up as a stray, the Village will impound the animal and the owner must pay a $75.00 service charge plus boarding fees in order to retrieve your pet. Other tickets may be issued for non-compliance with the leash law. If you do not receive an application, or have a new pet, please stop by the Village Hall to register your pet.

CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM DETECTOR ACT (Public Act 094-0741) FOR ILLINOIS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2007

Every dwelling unit shall be equipped with at lease one approved carbon monoxide alarm in an operating condition within 15 feet of every room used for sleeping purposes. Every structure that contains more than one dwelling unit shall contain at lease one CO alarm within 15 feet of each sleeping area. The CO alarm can be combined with smoke detecting devices, provided each unite has a distinct alarm that differentiates the hazard. The owner of the property must supply and install all required alarms.

In non-owner occupied dwellings: The owner must provide the tenant with written information regarding testing and maintenance and must make sure the batteries in the CO alarm are in operating conditions when the tenant takes possession of the dwelling unit. The tenant must take responsibility to test and provide general maintenance for the alarms; notify the owner or owner’s agent in writing of any deficiencies the tenant can not correct and allow the owner of the owner’s agent access to the dwelling unit to correct any deficiencies in the carbon monoxide alarm reported in writing to the owner or agent.

The carbon monoxide alarms required under this Act may be either battery powered, plug-in with battery back-up, or wired into the structure's AC power line with secondary battery back-up. TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE
The Youth Commission in conjunction with the Police and Fire Department will be holding it's annual TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE. This drive will provide toys and other goods for needy families in Riverdale. All toys must be NEW and UN-WRAPPED. Monetary donations would also be appreicated. Please make checks payable to Riverdale Toys for Tots.

This drive will start on Monday, November 13th and will end on Monday, December 11th. Toys or donations are to be dropped off at the Village Hall located at 157 W. 144th Street during the following hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm and on Wednesdays until 8:00pm.

THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSING
The Village Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving.

LIBRARY CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY
The library will be closed on Thursday, November 23th and Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving. The library will resume its regular hours on Saturday.
